Jailed for Harassing Family of Missing Man

Post by Alibongo » Thu Aug 28, 2014 1:54 pm

A Facebook troll who sent the father of a missing man a message claiming he had "brutally tortured and murdered" his son has been jailed.

Stewart McInroy, 23, has been jailed for ten months after sending a series of messages to friends and family of missing Allan Bryant Jr.

Mr Bryant’s father, also Allan, said he felt "utter disappointment" at the sentence, adding "it caused heartache beyond words".

Mr Bryant was last seen leaving Styx nightclub in Glenrothes on November 3 last year.

The 24-year-old’s friends and family have campaigned to try and find him, setting up a Facebook page in the process.

In April this year, McInroy used that page to contact Mr Bryant's father as well as two others and sent them messages claiming he had murdered Mr Bryant.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard McInroy had set up a Facebook page in a false name, Daniel Bunton, and used that to add Becky Gallacher, a friend of Mr Bryant, to his friends' list.

She then received a string of messages from that account - including claims he had taken Mr Bryant hostage and his "life was at stake".

The next day Mr Bryant Sr received a message showing a message had been posted on the "Find Allan Bryant Jr" page.

The message, from Daniel Bunton, read: "I am the killer of Allan Bryant.

"When he walked home I stopped my van, grabbed him, holded him hostage til I found out he was on the news so I brutally tortured him.

"Tied to a chair, stabbed nails in him, wrapped with 240,000 volt wire and fried that f****r Allah Akbar f*** white people."

McInroy then shared the message on his own Facebook page adding: "Sorry but the family need to know."

He then had a conversation with himself between his own profile and the Daniel Bunton profile.

He first wrote as Bunton saying: "Listen p**** UR an infadel and all you shall face an execution from beheading all you white people are w******."

McInroy then replied to himself saying: "Pahahaha away you go you actual strange person."

Mr Bryant Sr later reported the incident to police.

Meanwhile McInroy posted another exchange between his two pages - first posting as Bunton: "Beg for it and I will release the bodies."

Then as himself he wrote: "Beg for SFA ya d***."

Then as Bunton: "Oh well then the Bryant family shall never see their smelly decomposed Allan again - I'm letting you white people rot."

McInroy, again posting as Bunton, then claimed there was a video of him executing someone on a website.

Another Facebook user contacted police about the exchanges.

Fiscal depute Claire Bremner told the court the following day McInroy himself contacted police saying he wanted to report threats made to him on Facebook by the Daniel Bunton profile.

Officers discovered the Bunton posts had come from a mobile phone owned by McInroy.

McInroy pleaded guilty to three charges of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm.

He also admitted another charge of threatening to post pictures of a woman's three-year-old daughter on pornographic websites on September 22 last year. He was given an 18-month community payback order with supervision and an internet ban.

I think the sentence is way to lenient but its a step in the right direction and I think it wont be long before we see a few of the main antis charged with harassment.
