Tara grinstead

Put this in here as it's about a burglary gone wrong resulting in a missing person but dont worry about moving it if you think it's better in news.

In 2005 Tara grinstead did not turn up for work and as of now remains missing. She was a thirty year old school teacher at the time, single and living in a bungalow in a small community of about a thousand or so people. She was well liked and known in the area, a former beauty queen, and had a routine with neighbours where she would turn her light on to let them know she was home safe. That sort of neighbour hood, not an anonymous commuter village.

She came home one evening from an evening helping some students, but next morning she was gone. Her car and phone were home, nothing else missing just Tara. The only clue was a plastic glove on her garden, but it was not know if it was connected or not. No one had a clue what happened, or even where whatever did happen happened.

Earlier this year police got a tip off and have now arrested a man for her murder. It is alleged he broke into her home to rob it and she discovered him and he then strangled her and took her body out of the house. So a burglary gone wrong, but no actual indication of a struggle or abduction. Tara was young and physically fit with neighbours who would have heard a scream and in the sort of area where people noticed things. Yet someone was able to break in, and take her without a single sign of what happened left behind. Police investigated from the minute she was reported missing and not just local police but the state bureau of investigation, there were massive searches, documentaries and a strong media presence ever since. But only when after eleven years someone tipped off the police did police discover what happened.

Compare that to Madeleine, who was only four, who did not have a forensic search done straight away on the place she disappeared from, and who despite the media obsession has only had police investigating her disappearance for about half the time she has been missing.

I am not saying Madeleine was killed like this. Just that it is entirely possible for an abuction to happen without a symbolic "an intruder woz here" graffitied all over the scene.

That is so sad Scooby......but yes an abduction of a small child could easily leave no trace, especially if planned and carried out very quickly. As you say there wouldn't be much resistance from a 3yrs old sleeping child.
Madeleine McCann- Abducted May 2007 from Praia Da Luz, Algarve, Portugal.
DCI Redwood of Scotland Yard - stated that Madeleine could still be found - alive.
